The use of RFID technology is enabling smarter warehouses, where information is much easier to acquire, store and ship. In this sense, RFID tags play a very important role in streamlining logistics processes in very varied sectors.
The objective that every company seeks is to improve its management and reduce costs. Some different technologies and products allow you to achieve this, with RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) being one of them. Today, we will talk about RFID tags and how they help us in maintaining efficiency in our business.
RFID tagging in India is used in companies in different sectors, with retail and health being some of the most committed to them, because they allow you to work faster and, above all, safely.
The information that the user wishes to record is stored in them, so that, later, only an RFID reader is necessary to extract said information, using radiofrequency.
RFID vs Barcode
Unlike the barcode, which is the one that has been used mostly in the last two decades, RFID tags can be read much faster, store more information and last much longer, which makes keeping information on them a lot safer.
But this is not the only advantage; it is also important to point out that this type of label can be placed on most materials, which allows them to be used in very different environments.
On the other hand, barcodes have fixed information; however, RFID tags allow real information to be read (obtained) at the moment, as well as new information can be written on them, being more flexible than barcodes.
RFID tag types
There are 3 types:
- Active: they are the most effective for harsh environments such as water or metal and the signal ability to transmit is the strongest. They have their autonomous source.
- Semi-active: they also have their power supply, but only to transmit information to the chip and not to the reader. They have a capacity comparable to assets.
- Passives: they are activated when a reader is nearby to provide them with the necessary energy. They work at a distance of 10 centimetres.
To apply RFID technology in your company, it is necessary to use TAGS. Among some of the places where more RFID tags are placed, it is worth mentioning: the retail sector, especially fashion, and food, but also hospitals, tolls, and security, and, of course, logistics.
Benefits of RFID tags
Security: when issuing and recording data. For this reason, they are widely used in health matters, specifically pharmaceuticals, to fight against fake drug fraud.
More accurate reading in inventories.
They can inform operators when it is necessary to replace a product or if there is an error in their placement.
The information they store can be consulted from anywhere in the world.
These labels, of course, require RFID readers and RFID label printers. If you also want to have a warehouse where information is more secure and flows faster, we invite you to contact CAC and the firm’s experts will study what is the best solution for your business.
